Womp. The database was corrupted and I had to use a backup from 2018 (in 2021). Sorry for any data loss. A server update also broke a bunch of the site (I've got it mostly working, but some things may still be busted). Another unrelated server update also busted the way my wii homebrew connected to the site (so none of them can go online anymore and they may never change). Have I mentioned that I've had problems with this cheap web host?
You can check out whatever new projects I have in the works over on twitter at @BoringDevKate.

Rules:
1. You may rap out a lyric from a song (example: Eminem - Berzerk). However, you cannot use up the whole song's lyrics. Most of your raps must have been made by your own words.
2. Each contestant has five or more minutes to rap. Maximum time: 8 minutes.
3. Strong or offensive language is NOT permitted.
NOTE: if you happen to be rapping out a song that has some inaproppiate lyrics (sexual content) you should try to make it more suitable by making changes to that/those lyric(s).
4. Raps are not meant to offend or insult others. Take that in mind that certain comebacks are meant to diss that person, but they are NOT meant to offend others. The words "Rap Battle" explain it.
5. Try not to make a rap comeback that has to do with offending people's personal peers/family. Unacceptable comebacks will be deleted.
Reminders:
Try to make your raps more sense. Some lines don't have to rhyme, but try to rhyme the lyrics.

Comment posted by emc at 2014-04-05 22:12:25 (11 years ago)This is why the majority of people hate rap: they think that rap is all about bad things (such as unsuitable langauge and other inaproppiate content). What's "bad" is Gangsta Rap, although I dio not hate it nor dislike it.
Hip Hop is my favorite genre, and i'd expect good rap. But you can't expect all rap genres to be good, because certain rap like Gangsta Rap which I mentioned, is sometimes not suitable for some people.
But rap is anything: you can rap about anything else you can come up with. I rap about freaking life, my experiences, other person's experiences, yadda yadda. And that being said, "rap" means "rhyming". Rhyming is optional (to me), but i'd recommend some rhyming in a song, because if you make a "rap song" with no rhymes at all, then you end up with a "song", it's not going to be rap completely.
I'm going to leave that for later. Point is, certain rap can be good, some can't. Do you know what makes rap bad? How rappers lyric out their song (no offense). Take Macklemore as an example. He is a very good rapper in my opinion, but you know, most of his songs involve with swearing, like "Make the Money" and "Jimmy Iovine" involve with some swearing (or cussing, whatever you'd like to call it). And in my opinion, his song "White Walls" is indeed inaproppiate XD well, I should say that Schoolboy Q made the song explicit, lol.
Now let me get into making-sense-on-the-raps. You know, most of the songs I heard are pointless: they don't expl

They don't explain the plot, nor it stays on the same subject, etc. IMO, the likely reason why is because they try to rhyme without knowing that they should stay in the same subject. I know this sounds harsh but I don't mean to offend anyone, especially certain rappers.

Comment posted by emc at 2014-04-05 22:17:17 (11 years ago)Like I said, you can rap about ANYTHING in real life, but just think for a moment. You got a choice: whether you want to rap what reaally benefits, or rap unsuitable subjects.
The rules will always be there in this thread. Everyone knows what happens when they don't apply to this rap-policy.
